¡Pícaros! Soñar con la cima del éxito y perseguirla es un paso de un gran escalador. Una vez oí que la cima del éxito es muy estrecha, y que el elitismo mundial que la ocupa no va a estrechar la mano de humilde carrera y constancia, bueno… no os desaniméis. Todos necesitamos esa ayuda, ese empujoncito, pero, no es mejor hacerlo solitos? Además, cuando ya estemos rozando ese pico en el que creemos que estamos en la punta del iceberg, estancados y congelados, realmente, ya casi está conseguido. Pero casi ¡eh! porque ahora no es momento de dormirse, hay que ser constante.

Rogues! Dreaming with reaching success, and pursuing it, is a big step in life. Once, I heard that once you’ve reached the top, it is indeed very narrow, and that the worldwide elitism that inhabits in there won’t shake hands with the humble and persevering people, but well, don’t give up. We all need some help, that push, but, wouldn’t it be better to do it all by ourselves? Besides, when we are already reaching the tip of the mountain, we think it’s in fact the top of the iceberg and, freezing or frozen, it’s actually almost done. But almost, eh? now there’s no time to fall asleep, we must be steadfast.

Hollywood no es tan solo la cima del mundo artístico cinematográfico, ésta es también la del cualquier soñador y emprendedor que quiera hacerse un hueco en el amplio mundo laboral de los EEUU. Este barrio o zona Angelina tiene la magia del aventurero, soñador y luchador extrovertido con ganas de comerse el mundo. Tantas estrellas como personas que a diario pasean por ellas en el paseo de la fama aspirando a ser una más. Es una zona mágica donde residen y trabajan personas de todas partes del mundo, combinada con una mezcla de diversas procedencias culturales de cualquier rincón del mundo. Pasear por aquí a veces es como andar por Sevilla en Semana Santa, una odisea, es el único sitio donde me siento como en casa, ver los bares y pubs llenos de gente en las puertas, puestos ambulantes, artistas sin nombre, tiendas donde encontrar misteriosos y sorprendentes objetos, o arte callejero compuesto entre cada uno de nosotros.

Hollywood is not just the top of the artistic and cinematographic world, it is also the top destination for every dreamer and entrepreneur who wants to find his/her place in the US. This angeleno neighbourhood has the magic of the adventurer, the outgoing dreamer and fighter eager to eat the entire world. There are so many stars on the walk of fame, as well a people walking over them, aspiring to become one more of them. It is a magic area inhabited by people from all around the world. Walking over here sometimes looks like taking a walk in my hometown Sevilla during the Holy Week, it can be an odyssey, overwhelming, but it’s the only place where I can feel like home in Los Angeles, while seeing all those crowded bars, restaurants, unknown artists, mysterious shops with amazing objects or street art all around.

Subir a las colinas, éste en mi nuevo vicio, un deporte que hasta ahora no me atraía interés alguno, pero muy satisfactorio. Estar ahí arriba hasta el punto donde pareces capaz de ver el mundo a tus pies, respirar aire puro, mirar al infinito; verlo todo nublado, como un futuro incierto y poder decir y pensar con toda seguridad y fuerza: Soy lo suficientemente fuerte de estar en este país lleno de maravillosas sorpresas y estoy listo para las no tan buenas. Este hobby ha sido “diagnosticado” aquí -risas- y bendito sea.

Climbing up to the hills, that is my new sport, something that up until now wasn’t of my personal interest, but now I find it very gratifying. Being up there, where you can see almost literally the world at your feet, breathing the pure aire, looking to the infinity; and to see it all blurry, like an uncertainty future in front of you, but being able to tell to yourself and think with confidence: I am strong enough to be in this country full of marvellous surprises and I am ready for those not so marvellous. This hobby of mine was “diagnosed” here -laughing out loud- and it feels so good.
